Trip to Asian Civilisations Museum

Resisting the temptation to replace my silver arowana that died a few days ago, I decided to explore one of the museums in Singapore.

Being one of the closest and one that I have not been to for quite some time, I decided to visit the Asian Civilisations Museum.

It was a easy and short 5 minute walk from Raffles Place MRT along the scenic Singapore River.

Cavenagh Bridge.

The last time I checked, most people don't bring along cattle and horses anymore...

The "twin towers" of UOB and UOB (one was previously owned by OUB, which was acquired by UOB).

This is the Dalhousie Obelisk that commemorated the second visit to Singapore, in February 1850, of the Marquis of Dalhousie, who was the Governor-General of India from 1848 to 1856. It also served to remind merchants of the benefits of free trade.

Some history about the area and the building (Empress Place) that houses the museum.

Entrance fees and opening hours for the Asian Civilisations Museum.

In my next post, we will explore what lies inside the building.

Stay tuned!
